The creator portal
The creator portal is a separate, public sign-in where a creator can see their own earnings without you sending them anything. It is off by default, is turned on per store in Settings, and needs the Pro plan.
Signing in
A creator enters their email address and gets a sign-in link. Links are single use, short lived, and stored only as a hash, so what sits in the database cannot be used to sign in as anybody.
Only creators of stores that have enabled the portal can sign in at all. Creators with no email address cannot use it.
What a creator sees
Their own figures, and nothing else:
- Dashboard. Balance first, with their period totals.
- Payouts. Their payout history.
- Reports. Aggregate earnings, and scheduled report subscriptions they manage themselves.
- Agreements. The deals they are on, with the products each rule covers.
- Settings. Their statement cadence, CC addresses, their PayPal address, their sign-in address, and the people they have shared access with.
They never see another creator’s earnings, your other deals, your margins, or anything in your Shopify admin.
What a creator can change
Their own statement cadence and CC list, their own PayPal payout address, and their own sign-in address.
Changing the sign-in address requires the new address to confirm a link before it takes effect, and the current address is told the change was requested and given a link to cancel it. Changing the PayPal address leaves a dated note on that creator’s page in your admin, so a payout address that moved is visible to you rather than silent.
Delegated read-only access
A creator can share a read-only view of their own earnings with a manager, an accountant or a co-author. A guest sees the dashboard, reports and payouts only. They can never change anything, never see settings or agreements, never download line-level detail, and cannot pass access on to somebody else.
Access is re-checked on every request, so revoking a guest, or turning the feature off store-wide, locks them out immediately rather than at their next sign-in.
The two narrowing switches
Both live in Settings under Creator portal, both on by default, and both inert while the portal itself is off.
- Allow creators to download line-level earnings detail (CSV). Off leaves creators with period totals, the aggregate report and their payout history. The restriction is enforced on the server, not only in the interface.
- Allow creators to share read-only access to their earnings. Off revokes every guest’s view at once. It does not delete the grants, so turning it back on restores them.
Previewing and inviting
From a creator’s page in your admin you can preview the portal as that creator, to see exactly what they see, and send them an invitation. Invite all uninvited on the creators list catches everybody who has never been asked.
Your own domain
On the Pro plan the portal can be served from your own subdomain instead of the shared one, so creators reach it at an address that looks like yours. The domain has to pass a DNS check before it is used.
